Research and Information Transfer

One reason for this is CMHC’s commitment to research to help Canadians understand and improve the technical, economic, environmental and social aspects of housing. CMHC is constantly looking for better ways to meet Canadians’ housing needs of today and tomorrow.
Canadians expect their homes to be energy-efficient, comfortable, durable, and affordable. CMHC research aims to improve housing and support the housing market by being the key Canadian source of reliable and objective housing information.
Assisted Housing
CMHC participates in assisted housing initiatives as directed by the federal government with ongoing responsibility for federal social housing funding. In particular, CMHC supports aboriginal communities in their efforts to become self-sufficient in developing and maintaining their housing.
International
CMHC supports and promotes the export of Canadian housing products and expertise by identifying market opportunities and providing practical information and advice to the housing industry.
