Pedestrians get priority in a new Warwick, New York, neighborhood developed with technical assistance from PATH. A walkable, 220-home active adult community, Warwick Grove will include a variety of housing, from single-family homes to condominiums to live-work units, and all will incorporate energy efficient and sustainable building practices.
PATH is helping the developer, Leyland Alliance, to incorporate a number of energy-saving practices, including an unvented, conditioned crawl space, HVAC and ductwork in conditioned space, tankless water heater, spectrally selective low-E windows, and a programmable furnace. These features will increase homeowner comfort and save on monthly energy bills. Leyland broke ground on the first two model homes in September. More information
NowHouse Gives Public, Builders Chance to See PATH Technologies
Dubbed the “Home of Today,” the NowHouse is a fully functioning demonstration home that opened in late October in the parking lot of San Francisco’s SBC Park. Built by CleverHomes and cosponsored by PATH, the NowHouse is one of the most environmentally-friendly and technologically-advanced homes ever constructed. The house was designed to grow with its residents by easily accommodating the addition of rooms and even a second floor to the building. Among the PATH technologies in the NowHouse are a home run plumbing system, a tankless water heater with solar back-up, photovoltaic roofing, radiant barriers, optimized HVAC, bamboo flooring, and ENERGY STAR ® qualified windows, doors, insulation and appliances. With more than 6,000 visitors through the first month, the NowHouse will be on display at SBC Park through March 2005.
