Abstract:

The Residential Technology Diffusion Modeling project builds on past research to develop adoption and diffusion models for product and process innovations that incorporate the key dimensions of time, space, product characteristics, decision factors, adopter characteristics, supply-chain characteristics, market characteristics and consumer characteristics. This research will:

  • integrate adoption and diffusion as interdependent processes;
  • employ a unique data set developed by pooling multiple years of the Builder Practices Survey (BPS) conducted by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center; and
  • contribute to achieving national goals for improving the efficiency, sustainability, and affordability of housing production as identified by PATH and Building America.
